The municipalities of Oslo, Stavanger, and Trondheim applied for and were selected by the European Commission to participate in the Mission. All three Norwegian cities have ambitious climate goals, each with their own unique strengths, priority areas, and challenges.

Oslo
Oslo aims to become one of the world's first virtually emission-free major cities by 2030.
Through its Climate City Contract, the city is committed to a radical transformation of the transport sector and the construction industry.
As part of the EU's Climate Neutral Cities Mission, Oslo serves as a living laboratory for the circular economy and zero-emission zones,proving that a high quality of life and zero emissions can go hand in hand.

Trondheim
As Norway’s technological hub, Trondheim has built its Climate City Contract on close collaboration between research, business, and the municipality.
Supported by the country's leading knowledge institutions, the city is spearheading the development of smart energy grids and sustainable mobility. As a Mission City, Trondheim harnesses innovation to scale solutions that not only cut local emissions, but also set a new international standard for climate-neutral urban development.

Stavanger is channeling its deep industrial expertise into the green transition, with an ambitious goal of reducing emissions by 80% by 2030. Through its Climate City Contract, the city is committed to spearheading renewable solutions, the electrification of its port, and future mobility.
